When importing used Japanese cars into the British Virgin Islands, a tax rate of 20% is applied.

  1. The importer is responsible for completing the vehicle registration form.
  2. Subsequently, the completed vehicle registration form should be submitted to the Licensing Officer, who will verify the weight of the used Japanese vehicle.
  3. The registration form, along with proof of ownership for the used vehicle from Japan, needs to be presented to the cashier for license plate registration.
  4. The cashier then collects a registration fee of $10 and issues a receipt to the customer. If a license plate is needed, an additional fee of $25 is applied.
  5. A copy of the registration form is provided to the importer.
  6. Depending on the curb weight of the vehicle, a fee is assessed, and you can obtain the exact amount from the accounts officer.
  7. Subsequently, the licensing process for Japan used vehicles is carried out.
  8. Finally, when exporting vehicles from Japan, a copy of the registration form and the receipt will be required.
